design process

how we work

  • This initial phase of the project includes preliminary studies of your home or property. We will find out more about you and your design ambitions for the project along with your timescales, budget and we discuss what the scope of services might be. All this will happen during our scheduled initial design consultation.

  • After our initial design consultation, we will prepare a design brief that outlines the project's objectives, requirements, and expectations. It serves as a foundational reference point for both, you and I, ensuring that everyone is on the same page throughout the design process.

  • What is the concept?

Concept design is an essential part of the design process. It is the beginning of the creative process. For the design to feel considered and complete, rather than being a random collection of elements, there is a need to find an unifying idea that will hold all the parts of the design together. This single idea will set the stylistic tone of the whole design.

It is this single idea that is the concept.

It must be strong and compelling and say everything about the project. What it looks like, how it feels – the story that it evokes. It is an abstract representation of the ideas of form, texture, colour, style, and mood you expressed to us. It is about capturing and communicating the spirit and character of a space and the architecture.

  • Throughout the design development stage, we get into the detail of the scheme. This involves refining the space planning , finalising key finishes and materials for the floors, walls, furnishings and final products, and defining the lighting schemes. This all will be implemented into a 3D model for your initial feel of the space we create together.

  • With the design stage signed off, we move on to the technical design where we prepare detailed, technical documentation for the project, including demolition works and all the new proposed details for the construction.

  • With the technical design documentation, the construction can begin. We work with contractors, make regular site visits to ensure the work aligns with our design intent, and maintain quality control to address issues as they arise.

We attend formal meetings on the site with contractors and trades to resolve issues, as required.

  • I manage the installation of furniture, fixtures and equipment. Every piece is meticulously placed according to the design plan to ensure your space looks and functions as intended. Item description

  • The final phase is a project completion, where we conduct a final walkthrough to ensure every detail is perfect. We help get any defects rectified then hand over your transformed space for you to enjoy.
